This is Emma......you didn't miss much.
There wasn't much dancing, definitely no pogoing and we didn't drink much at all. Didn't get to chat to the boys and didn't get them all to sign the cd to auction off. Like I said, hardly worth going and a complete waste of money......

Well, unfortunately I would give you a gig report but I left after 15 minutes.
I am sure that if you managed to get near the stage, you all had a fabulous time but we could not see Seth and the sound where we were was disgraceful. We were not the only ones who were not happy and we did not arrive there late either!
It was just a small stage in an odd spot in a bar, for the number of tickets sold. Disappointing and a complete waste of money - at least the ticket money went to a good cause.
I expect I shall be criticised for criticising, so be it.

Really disappointed
(I was in good company not being able to see - Steve Knightly was bobbing up and down next to me at one point for a glimpse of the stage ) |

I think maybe they should have limited the numbers, possibly torn between raising the money for a good cause & leting fans in.......difficult _________________ Oh The Watchman comes, hear him bang upon his drums, count with me ,one two three let's run

Dave said there was a sign saying the max amount of people was 250. Discovered that 300 could get in there, but not necessarily see the stage. Luckily we threw ourselves at the stage at 8 (gig started at 9) and got good places.
was absolutely amazing! Though I had some really awful people behind me. One point I was saving a place for someone and theses girls were literally right on top of me trying to push in, so I stuck my elbows out and assumed chicken pose so they couldn't. and later after seth had joked saying 'it's a little scary up here' and us lot had started dancing around again, I heard one of them say 'well, I'M scared' really not bothering to keep her voice down...I very nearly turned round to tell to F*** off, which I don't do very often.
started off at the front of the stage between where sean and seth would be but soon found myself three rows back right in front of the man himself. Good position if I may say so.
sang alot, danced a lot, cheered alot, cracked, (because of the mass force of mirelings there all cracking, he got so taken aback that he forgot the next line and had to stop for a few seconds ) took photos and had a fantastic time.
and emma scared adam. alot. _________________ 'One of Dartmoor's most enduring legends. It's one I wrote myself.

he was trying to communicate with someone on stage, and emma was very obviously peering over at him with a camera trying to get photo's. he looked uncomfortable and sat down at one point, and kept sending glances over our way. Morning People, Still pounding from the gig - heart and head ! Cannot describe the brilliance. I've completely lost the voice but can just about type - even though the arms still ache (the hands went up in Haunt You and never came down ). Nia got the set list (and loads of photos I think), but set pretty much stuck to the order of the recent gigs.. Poor Man's Heaven and Haunt You for me were highlights ..
Can understand frustrations about restricted space - I'd say because of the layout, a fraction of 250 could even see the stage. Didn't get to the front until half way through after some effective barging - was behind Nia and Mima, so probably along from you on the right Jen??! ..
Just want to say sorry I had to leave quickly without staying to chat to you or saying goodbye Nia, Mima, Jane - or even hello, Jen - and the rest of you. Hope you had a fun night, looking forward to post-gig report ! _________________ but if your struggle is bound up with mine

P.S. He said the last time he played there it was with Benji and there were only 5 people in the audience....
He dedicated King and Country to his dad who was in the audience. And said Haunt You would be out as a single for Hallowe'en ..... _________________ but if your struggle is bound up with mine

It sounds like if you could get yourself close to the stage it was amazing.
REALLY gutted for Bluebell that you had a rotten time. Kind of glad I (well, the OH really) held out against the 8 hour round trip - I had a nightmare of it being really squashed and either being trampled or totally unable to see a thing (being 5 foot).
Jen thanks for the big write up.. Love the story of the crack. Can't wait to see photos!!!!!! _________________ "For a folkie, Lakeman is an unnecessarily handsome bugger" The Seth Lakeman Archive - All the Seth news I can be bothered to print

he seemed a bit moody at the beginning didn't he? He soon cheered up when he saw the mirelings jumping around and really getting into the music, some of the audience were right lemons. At the end of mariners he put us in. the bit where he sings 'and will the drinkiers come tonight' he altered it to 'and will the mirelings come tonight'! hee hee.
uploading photo's onto photobucket now so watch this space.... _________________ 'One of Dartmoor's most enduring legends. It's one I wrote myself.

I got the impression that they were unhappy with the sound. There seemed to be some tension at the sound check between band & the techy sound bloke and there were ongoing feedback squeals throughout the evening (not always drowned out by squealing Mirelings). There was no room for Jamie and Adam to do their thing so it probably wasn't ideal from their point of view either.
I'm so sorry to read about BF's experience - fellow Mirelings were asking where you were. I'm sure you won't get criticism - if your experience was a bad one, who can argue with that? It's just such a shame
I was at the very front, right at Seth o'clock The stage was only about a foot high, so a very good view I loved it, loved it, loved it!
Someone will be along shortly with some great Adam pictures for Babs |
